Why We are Throwing the Greatest Event the World has Ever Known

October 6, 2008 – 10:32 am

by David Snyder

Greatest event the world has ever known?

Okay, maybe a bit of hyperbole.

But we do feel that it is one of the best search events to come around in a long time.

Of course I am speaking about Scary SEO.

What is Scary SEO?

In case you are living under a rock, Scary SEO is a micro-sized conference taking place near Halloween (October 24th and 25th) in Deerfield Beach, Florida. It is showcasing some of the industries best talent and speakers, including:

Jeff Quipp - CEO of Search Engine People

David Snyder - Co-Founder Search & Social, LLC and Search Strategist for JRDunn.com

Jordan Kasteler - Co-Founder Search & Social, LLC and Sr.Search Strategist at Overstock.com

Rhea Drysdale - SEO & Social Media Coordinator at We Build Pages

Martin Bowling - CTO of VEC3

Loren Baker - Editor and Chief of Search Engine Journal and Partner at Traffic Blend, LLC

Brandy Eddings - CEO of New Edge Media

Pamela Lund - Director of US Operations - BespokeUSB.com

Carolyn Shelby - Director of Natural Search at Chicago-based BeFoundLocal.com/The Krull Group

Brian Chappell - Senior Social Search Strategist at Ignite Social Media

John Carcutt - Co-Founder/Chief Search Stratigest of AgencyWeb

Brian Carter - Director of Search Marketing at Fuel Interactive

Eric Lander - Organic Search Manager, ADP Inc./Associate Editor, Search Engine Journal

Chris Hart - Director, Eastern Region Operations Bruce Clay Inc.

The event is focused on education and networking. These 13 speakers will cover 10 topics, including:

  • The Code of SEO: Coding and Design concepts that improve your SEO efforts
  • Link Building: The Basics and Beyond
  • SEM Strategies: How to make paid search work for you
  • Protect Your Rep: Online Reputation Management
  • SEO Tools Sponsored by SEOmoz
  • SMO Tactics: How optimize social media for use in your SEO
  • Importance of Analytics: Beyond clickstream data
  • SEO Project Management and Educating Clients
  • Information Architecture and Content Creation Plans
  • Video Search Engine Optimization

Who is talking about Scary SEO?

In short, EVERYONE.

Scary SEO and SEO Champ - SEO 101 on Webmasterradio.fm
Learning SEO: A List of SEO Audio - Joshua Sciarrino on YOUmoz
Scary SEO:Brandy Eddings - Brandy Eddings
Scary SEO - Go Dave! - dk - Purposeinc

And the list grows by the day ….

Why are they talking?

Because Scary SEO is really unlike any conference in our industry before it.

I have used my experience and training as a teacher to put together a session style different than any of the major conferences.

Each 1 hour session will include 20 minutes of speaker presentations, 20 minutes of Q&A, and 20 minutes of hands on group learning where attendees can have others look at their projects under an NDA and help put together a strategy based on the sessions topic.

This is a hyper-networking event. With almost everything happening at the same location, including meals, events, and sessions. Even the sessions are hyper-networking, allowing both proffesional SEOs and enterprise level folks to gain from the experience.

The participants of Scary SEO will enjoy a 48 + hour community building and Internet marketing education experience unlike any other.

The Cherry on top of the Sundae

What really makes Scary SEO “The Greatest Event the World has Ever Known?”

The fact that you can get everything I have talked about for a $200 ticket price.

That’s right.

You get this whole experience,  breakfast each day,  a delicious hot buffet lunch (Italian and Mexican), as well the SEOmoz sponsored trip to the Hard Rock Casino, for $200.

It is on average about 500% less expensive than any other search conference during the fall time period.

There are less than 10 spots available for the event, so if you want to attend I would get moving. If you don’t come be assured you will be disappointed once you start seeing tweets, pics, and video from the event.

This promises to be an event to remember.
